working on his screenplay…

Yes, this picture, as it stands, exudes warmth.  The bomber hat, plaid flannel shirt, the funky looking slippers, lounging on a rocking chair and sportin’ the sweatpants.  BUT what one does not see is the warmth of spirit and, most importantly, the overwhelming warmth in my heart when I saw this moment and photographed it.

Explanation is as follows:  I shall begin with the hat…the bomber hat and the large over-sized fleece-lined flannel shirt belonged to our very special friend (like a father, really) who passed away a few years ago.  The down camping boots were purchased back in the early 1980’s when I was dancing.  They were my first L.L. Bean purchase and I bought them to keep my feet warm when we would move from studio to the theatre.  (Theatres are very drafty.)  They are big so I can fit not just feet, but pointe shoes on feet.  Jordan has been wearing them way before they ever fit his feet.  We nick-named them “big guns”.   The rocking chair has been ‘the place’ since before he was born and then after he was born and when Peyton was born…..I think you got the idea….. The sweat pants are the wardrobe of choice at home – not the dorm or anywhere else, but home.

Lastly, when I look at this photo,  I see a young man living a dream…working towards his goals…which explains the posture.  At this moment in time, you see a college student who is relaxed and happy to be home for winter break AND inspired to work on his screen play!  Have I mentioned my son aspires to make movies?

Your explanation really adds to the picture. The casual picture is usually so much more meaningful than the posed ones. I’m all bundled up here too. 🙂

They are kinda here. This week they are with dad in AZ. Thus the photo the other day of Jordan being pushed off the Grand Canyon. I pick them up this Sunday. And Pee – she is a very independent woman. She is sometimes stuck like glue and sometimes a lone Pee sitting by the window staring….at what we do not know…..

We all need the warmth and closeness of others. Even through a heart warming post as yours. 🙂

It is funny you would mention this – my son has always seen himself as Spielberg, meaning he was born in OH, parents are divorced, Jewish…(my son is, too) Seriously, my son thought this as a child:) and I think somewhere inside, he still relates to him in this way.

Thank you for the words that you used to describe your family. I am very glad that you and your son have a close relationship which is something that is missing in many parent-child relationships. I trust that your son will find great success in his future.

This young man has had a fascination with movies since he was 2 1/2. He is now on the cusp of turning 20! I believe he is destined for great things – (i hope and pray:)
