three years

~

as another year passes,

i say goodbye…

again…

reliving the last days

before an unexpected farewell.

~

every moment is engraved

deep within my mind

&

my body still aches

with

each beat of my heart.

a decade passed

ten birthdays,

two bar mitzvahs,

first jobs

&

concerts.

sports and art expos,

a high school graduation,

driving a car

&

one off to college.

dreams so desperately wished upon

have passed without her here ~ ~ ~

and

though i see her in their eyes

and

feel her in my heart,

the sadness of missing my mother will never fade

or

truly

ever

depart.

a note to my neighbor

.

i do not know you

and

you do not know me.

our eyes have met a couple of times

but

words have never been exchanged.

i know you are troubled –

you keep to yourself.

i understand this need,

so

i keep my distance…..

.

you live across my driveway.

i see your house every single day.

we breathe the same air

and

we hear the same birds.

when i stand in my kitchen,

your red shades always stare at me

and

the old Ford Maverick smiles,

as i leave for work each day.

.

i have been thinking, as of late,

i have not seen you in a while.

no visitors stopping by

or

a trash can on the curb.

i know you are a very private person

but

being TOO alone can be a curse.

i worry.

.

.

i did not know you

and

you did not know me

but

if life had been different,

we may have been friends.

.

please know i wish you peace.

.

ßill, Peyton and Jordan

a little note:  This is quite a wonderful picture – not because Bill and Peyton have a pretzel in their eye and Jordan was trying to hold a pretzel in his eye, failed and looked utterly goofy – no – it is a wonderful photo because #1.  Peyton had a grilling fork in his hand and #2.  Jordan had the Chicago Tribune movie section in his lap.  If there is one thing Bill did that was so very, very special, it was to encourage my boys’ passion – cooking, food and movies. & when the three were together, I could never tell who the grown up was……ever…

unremitting

two years have passed

the guilt still thrives

the pain still swells

you are missed terribly

gone too soon

wishes and dreams embark

floating away to nowhere

loneliness and sadness ensue

lying in the ground
