three years

~

as another year passes,

i say goodbye…

again…

reliving the last days

before an unexpected farewell.

~

every moment is engraved

deep within my mind

&

my body still aches

with

each beat of my heart.

this…

~

this lonely heart

cries

to be touched

~

this lonely heart

bleeds

to be loved

this lonely heart

wants

only

you

lesson learned at a soccer game…

NEVER

wear

a floppy hat

while

walking

under stadium bleachers,

looking

at the ground

and

dreaming

and

thinking

of

~

~ words ~

to

write

BANG!

why?

~

why?

~

why do we have to die?

family, friends, pets – why?

~

why does death have to be a part of life?

~

the pain, the sadness, the tears – why?

~

why do those we love have to go away?

~

why can’t they stay for one more day?

~

one more day so we can say all that we need to say ~

~

one last time ~

~

a last “i am sorry”

a last “i thank you”

a last “i will miss you”

a last “i love you”

~

the last “goodbye”

~

why?

~

please tell me why?

the bath

as the tips of my toes

touch the warm salty water,

all the tension seems to slip away ~

allowing

the twitches

and

twinges to pause ~

creating a moment in which to fade.

~

i can feel myself floating along a current

of a gentle meandering stream ~ ~ ~

under a canopy of willows,

sounds of crickets chirping

and

an occasional bumbling bee.

~

there is a feeling of calm

which only water can provide,

as it envelopes the senses with care ~

thereby

thrusting open the door,

and

breaking the chains –

allowing an escape from pain’s mighty lair.

freedom

stumbling through the woods

wrapped in a shroud of self-doubt

bound by intense fear

longing to escape her past

only pain will set her free

guilt

cloaking one’s soul in darkness…

it silently preys

with

a relentless voracity

leaving

regret

the why’s

?

I keep looking for answers ‘to why’

answers ‘to why’ that do not exist –

answers ‘to why’ that will never exist.

In other words,

I have to accept

the why’s

questions which will NEVER be answered.
