the roadside diner

right now it lies barren,

not much to attract the eyes

to a goose or a Sand Hill crane,

it is a buffet of delectable delights….

flocks of families and friends all come to gather

sharing stories and gossip alike ~

such as

“did you hear the scandalous tale about so-and-so and so-and-so?”

“anything exciting happen during your long, return flight?”

~ however ~

in only a few weeks,

this field will evolve

into something a bit different

not quite new …

still a tasty place to grab a quick bite

with an eclectic decor

a whole lots more to chew!!!

open 24 hours – all you can eat buffet…….

the harvest awaits

fields of brown stalks sway

orange patches lie silent

tractors fueled and wait……

the patch

a translucent veil

concealing the nursery

pumpkins not quite ripe

so quiet

wait and see

splotches of yellow

green leaves spread over acres

bulbous shapes lurking

while buzzing hovers above

will The Great Pumpkin appear?

hiding in the shadows

pumpkin flower

a flower with a bee you can barely see
