inscriptions

.

nighttime brings words spoken

only in the dark ~ etched in tears

by voices past and present.

each chapter bleeds the same ~ ~

line after line

page after page…..turning…..always…..until dawn

approaches

and

words begin to fade

the night air

~

as nighttime touches my skin,

my mind fills with desire

~ each heartbeat fuels a need ~

to be touched,

to be held,

to be wanted

yet

the rhythm of my cries fall on deaf ears

~ always ~

on deaf ears

and

stagnant air

dark voices

`

`

at night,

my loneliness

speaks the language of fear

and

sadness

on a bridge ~

they stood quietly observing the city of lights,

as its reflection danced gently

in the river below

it was the end of the day,

all of the lamps were ablaze

and

the streets were slowly clearing ~

except for lovers walking

and

holding each other close…

solitude

*

*

buried deep beneath layers

soft soothing flannel sheets

toasty warm down blankets

never another to share

night after night

~

these voices inside my head ~

they ridicule

they whisper

they scream

~ always ~

i listen

i wonder

i cry

i wish

and

i speak

why can’t i do anything right?

~

always

night after night
